As founding partner and chief executive officer of I-OnAsia, Derek is personally involved in day-to-day case management and fieldwork, and has led countless successful initiatives.
Derek is a former chair of the Hong Kong Chapter of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), and has more than two decades of experience as a leader in intelligence gathering and analysis, anti-counterfeiting and sensitive operations, with a specialty in the Asia Pacific region.
Based in New York City, James speaks Mandarin and heads I-OnAsia’s business in the western hemisphere while overseeing projects for American clients overseas.
James lived in Asia for 12 years, where he was engaged on hundreds of investigations and risk consultancy projects, with a particular focus on Indonesia, South Korea, Japan, Singapore and Thailand. He also undertook groundbreaking Basel II compliance studies on the frequency and impact of operational risk events in Asia.
James holds a bachelor’s degree in Chinese studies from the University of Buffalo, and a TRIUM M.B.A., jointly conferred by the NYU Stern School of Business, the London School of Economics and Political Science, and the HEC School of Business in Paris. James is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and a past volunteer leader of the Professional Risk Managers International Association’s Hong Kong and New York Chapters. He is a member of the National Committee on US-China Relations, a former term member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and an associate member the International Organization of Asian Organized Crime Investigators and Specialists.
Melissa is I-OnAsia’s senior business development director. She is responsible for client care and long-term relationships.
Melissa has strong industry knowledge in financial services, media, marketing, communications, and CRM. Prior to joining I-OnAsia, Melissa worked at a global online newswire. Prior to that she worked for The Guardian in London. Clients with interests in these industries benefit from Melissa’s direct experience. Where appropriate, Melissa undertakes field research and leads key assignments. Melissa’s general understanding of I-OnAsia’s sources and methods ensures I-OnAsia’s seamless delivery of quality services that exceed client expectations.
Melissa speaks Bahasa Malaysia and English with native fluency and is conversant in Mandarin, Cantonese, and Hokkien. She holds a BBA from Simon Fraser University in Canada.
Alfred leads I-OnAsia’s Shanghai representative office, where he provides liaison support touching on aspects of due diligence, research and analysis, business intelligence, and business development.
Alfred holds his masters of business administration from Carleton University in Canada, and is valued for his proven expertise in strategic marketing planning and competitor analysis.
Prior to joining I-OnAsia, Alfred spent seven years working with global telecommunications and consulting firms.
Angela is director for I-OnAsia in the Pearl River Delta region, where she leads teams working out of our representative office there to conduct fraud investigations, and support forensic collection and analysis.
Angela’s team has particular expertise in high volume FCPA and compliance screening, and in brand protection. Angela has provided liaison support on complex fraud investigations, including support on computer forensics.
Angela holds her MBA from Southern Cross University in Australia, and came to I-OnAsia from a Canadian multinational corporation where, as marketing director, she was responsible for gathering business intelligence.
